If you have been waiting patiently for the end of Covid-19 then the good news is that most things are opening back up for you to book. This includes campsites that were previously closed during the pandemic. There are so many choices when it comes to camping and going away, take a look online at different options. You could also ask your friends and family members if they can recommend anywhere.

Destination

One of the first things you need to decide amongst yourselves is where you want to go. There doesn’t just need to be one destination either. Depending on how long you are planning on going for you could choose two or three different places to stay. There are plenty of sites and guide books that you can look at which will suggest the top campsites. Everyone’s opinion is different and unique so it is up to you to decide where is best suited for you and your needs.

A couple of recommendations that might be worth checking out include Emerald Bay Boat Camp in Tahoe and Firelight Camps in New York. There are lots of places with tons of scenery from lakes to mountains.

Have Everything Booked

The last thing you want is to get to your desired campsite only to find out they are fully booked. Once you have decided where you are going and how long you will be staying for, you should get it booked. You can usually do this online depending on the campsite or you can give them a call and get yourself booked in over the phone.

If you are taking an RV or tow-along caravan on your trip then make sure the campsite is suitable for these. You don’t want to turn up only to find that it is only for tents. The great thing about campsites and RVs is that they have electricity and gas on site for you to attach yourself to.

Travel In Style

You can even make traveling a fun part of your trip. Rather than viewing it as traveling you could make it into a road trip style. Find a location to meet up with your friends along the way and enjoy the road as a group. If your destination is far away you could book some motels along the way, this extends your trip and gives you the chance to take in the sites.

If you have an RV you could take that along as these are great for roadtrips, they have a lot of space and there will be room for everyone if you need entertianment space in the evenings. Some RVs also have pop out tents which attach to the side of them, these are great if it suddenly decides to rain or if it’s too hot for you on your way to the campsite.

Make sure when you are planning your routes that you factor in any gas stops you will need to do. America is a huge country and you don’t want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere because you’ve run out of gas.

Equipment

Before you go on your trip it is a good idea to make a list of everything you might need. Even if you don’t think you will need something it is a good idea to take it along anyway, especially if it doesn’t take up too much room. Some of the essentials you will need is your camping equipment such as a tent, a stove, a waterproof, and bedding. Although if you are planning on using the RV or tow-along caravan then you will just need to make sure you have bedding for that.

You will also need enough clothes for your trip as there are not usually any washing facilities except good old soap and water. There are ways to pack light using certain tips and tricks, you can find out about these online.

Think About Meals

When you are away it is always tempting to feast on takeaway and junk food. This is fine in moderation but if you are away for a couple of weeks then you will need something more substantial and healthy. You can of course make a list of homecooked meals, especially if you have access to cooking equipment and a fridge. When you get to your campsite or before you turn up why not pop to the local supermarket. If you make a food plan then you can buy whatever it is you need to make substantial, healthy meals on site. You can even go for a big old BBQ, because it just wouldn’t be camping without a BBQ.

Activities

You and your friends might have always loved the idea of renting a motorbike and seeing the sites with the wind in your hair. If this is the case then you can rent a motorcycle when you are away. Choose somewhere with great motorcycle routes so you can really experience it. A quick internet search will let you know where it is best to go. The routes considered to be top two in the USA are the Pacific Coast Highway which goes from Oregon to California and the Appalachian Mountains which spans 770 miles from Virginia to North Carolina.

You can also plan other challenging activities that provide a sense of competition among friends, like fishing. You can see who can catch the most fish, or even the heaviest fish. The loser has to make dinner.

Be Prepared

Finally, it is always worth remembering that even if you are venturing off to somewhere warm and sunny you can still be caught out in the odd rain shower. Make sure you have everything you need for all weather, this includes waterproofs. Make sure all your equipment is waterproof and if you are wandering off from your campsite put everything in your tent or RV before you leave, just in case it decides to rain while you are out.

This also counts for sunny weather, you may not be expecting it to be really hot but this can change as the weather is unpredictable. Make sure you pack suitable clothes for the sun and also sun protection. You don’t want to be getting burnt, as this could ruin your trip.

We hope you found this article useful in planning your getaway and you have lots of ideas for your trip. Remember, it’s all about meeting up with friends and making memories that last forever. Have a great time.
