Barnett Quad 400 Review:

The Quad 400 crossbow is an accurate crossbow produced by a reputable manufacturer – Barnett.  It has some new features that are making it a favorite compared to other crossbows in the Barnett range. Manufactured primarily for hunting the Quad 400 is a powerful crossbow that can take down large prey easily at a longer distance. When purchased the crossbow needs to be put together, but it is quick as it comes with easy instructions to follow.

The Quad 400 has been improved dramatically from its predecessor. It features an innovative gas assist composite stock that hasn’t been shown in the crossbow industry before. It has been made much lighter than the previous version, so it weighs in at 8.4lbs which are light enough to carry around and aim effortlessly, albeit it is not the lightest crossbow. It has a thumbhole grip to make sure you have a steady hold when aiming and a concealed cheek piece to hold comfortably.  The Quad 400 shoots with an arrow speed of over 345 feet per second making it ideal for taking down prey when hunting or great for getting accurate shots when in a competition. The crossbow comes with CrossWire String and cable system that helps build up the power in each shot.  It has a sleek finish with an HD camouflage to keep you hidden when hunting. When the scope has been attached, you can shoot up to 55 yards and get precise and clean shots.

Compared to other crossbows, the Quad 400 may be too heavy so it is not recommended for beginners or men/women of the lighter frame. Also, you need to be quite strong to load the crossbow, so be prepared to spend time loading up and build up muscle.

In conclusion, there are lots of positive aspects about the Barnett Quad 400 crossbow and it has defiantly been improved from the earlier model. This crossbow gives you value for money if you have the strength to load it properly. It has an innovative design and has enough power to take down any prey you find stress free.

    Older ex-marine, don’t think I can pull the 150#, even w/ rope pull, but I will try 1st. Need to get the crank, I believe; How quick will I’lI be able to reload? How much weight will it add to the bow? How much noise does it make? I read that it isn’t perfected yet, is that true? (it gets caught up in the spool). I will use it on a Quad 400, which is heavy to begin with

      Joe, i think you should be able to do it with a rope and a proper technique but if uncomfortable a crank will help. unfortunately, haven’t tried it myself so not sure about speed and sound. Maybe other readers can chip in with their experience?
