Ice Fishing
As you probably understand from its name, ice fishing involves catching fish through holes in a frozen body of water. It’s popular for seasonal fishers and makes for an exciting challenge.
Compared to other types, this requires a bit more knowledge and expertise. You’ll also need to stock up on special ice fishing gear that is different from what you would typically use.
Spearfishing
If you’re looking for a more-hands on experience, then spearfishing might be something that you would like to try out. Instead of using a regular rod, you use a speargun that is either elastic or compressed-gas powered.
Before you go spearfishing, you must check the government rules. It’s usually done with snorkeling and scuba diving, and you want to abide by the regulations.
Netting
Using a rod isn’t the only way to catch fresh seafood. If you can’t seem to get the hang of using one, you might try netting instead.
You can either place one on the back of your boat (often called trawling), use a scoop net, or try casting with your bare hands. This style is used to obtain large amounts of fish rather than one or two.
Hand-Gathering

Drone Fishing
Finally, one of the most unique and newest styles of fishing, drone technology, now allows you to get the perfect catch no matter where you are. Just drop the bait and fly back with your prize.
While this technique is always going to be more expensive, it can be a fun activity as you try and navigate your drone. Again, make sure you keep things legal, as some spots will not allow drone technology, and you could end up with a nasty fine.
